This site is a tribute to Brendan Joyce, who was born in Friern Barnet, London on May 19, 1957. He is much loved by family and friends and will always be remembered for being a man of great vision and energy but he was also funny, warm, intelligent and loving as all his family and friends know.
Brendan was an exceptional leader, committed to conservation nationally and particularly in Norfolk where he was Chief Executive of Norfolk Wildlife Trust for 23 years and elsewhere in East Anglia where he directed Essex & Suffolk Rivers Trust. He led Norfolk Wildlife Trust to great things for conservation and was very well respected by its members, staff and volunteers.
He was awarded the Christopher Cadbury Medal in 2011 and an OBE for services to nature conservation in 2017.
In 2010, Brendan successfully received a liver transplant at Addenbrooke's Hospital and it was his wish that donations be made to the Liver Transplant Unit. It saved his life and allowed him to continue achieving wonderful things personally and professionally.
Sadly his life was cut short by pulmonary fibrosis which was diagnosed just two years ago. Brendan also wished for donations to be shared with Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis which supported him and his wife through difficult times. In spite of these health battles, Brendan was an amazing leader, passionate about conservation, music and loved his wife, children, grandson, family and friends greatly. We will miss him so much.
